The Chinese Taipei PONY league baseball team defeated San Bernardino, Calif., 12-1 to win the Pony League World Series on Wednesday (August 12.2015) at Lew Hays Pony Field at Washington Park. The championship is the seventh for Chinese Taipei. Taiwan President Ma Ying-jeou offered his warmest congratulations to the team. And the Education Director Dr. Charlin Chang represented the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York (TECO) to present the stunning award certificate to the team too.
The final match at Lew Hays Pony Field at Washington Park has aroused the huge attention in the Taiwanese community. There are lots of local Taiwanese established their cheering group to show the support to the Chinese Taipei baseball team. Dr. Chang said “The team has been performed outstanding work . It’s a wonderful teamwork. It’s not a one-man show. Everyone has to pull together and fight for the champion. I’m so proud of the team, and without their hard work and dedication, this wouldn’t have happened.”
In Asia, baseball is more than a game. It’s a way of life. From a young age, players are taught the fundamentals of the sport with an emphasis on discipline and respect. Once again, congratulate to the team.
