This event aims to promote Chinese learning in Greater New York, to engage and energize students in learning Chinese and to promote interaction between universities. So the qualification only for students currently learning Chinese at Greater New York area’s college/university students or for those who use Chinese as second language. Many students may think learning Chinese is difficult. In fact, there is an effective tool for learning language more accessible through singing. Education Division Director Charlin Chang commented that “Learning Chinese would be very lively and fun. We would like to promote the Chinese learning atmosphere and enhance the enjoyment of language learning through this activity.”
There were seventeen participants participating in the competition, including those as Hunter College, State University of New York and Columbia University. The Education Division also invited some famous local musicians joining on the judge mentor group. After the fierce competition, the event finally elected the top three and a People’s Choice Award, the first for the Mason Lang , second for Trevor Docter, third for Joshua Tufano, and the People’s Choice Award for Karissa Caputo. The winners were awarded prizes and a competition certificate. The atmosphere of the event was enthusiastic. The participants were also passionate about their singing. The supporters were also cheering up for their friends. The contest not only enhanced the friendship between the students, but also to promote learning Chinese is fun, and show the vitality and talented side of the campus and the students.
