The 2016 Architecture joint exhibition " Scope: an imagination evoking medium:Young Taiwanese Architectural Designer Exhibition ", was held on January24 at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in New York City. There were 31 various types of creative designers to show their work. The opening ceremony was held at the same time even under the snowstorm circumstance.
At the opening ceremony, TECO new Ambassador Lily L.W. HSU has praised all the Taiwanese architectural designer have done the wonderful jobs and effortlessly to make the exhibition successful. TECO Education Director Charlin Chang appreciated that the exhibition designers not only show the creative design, but also the full performance curatorial team of professional and courage. The Exhibition made people see that Taiwanese’s superb talent and artistic talent and creativity.
The title of the exhibition is “Scope”. This theme looks at this young generation on how the mindset of these designers reflects the roots of Taiwan and what they have learned and experienced in the United States; they have picked up knowledge from all over the world, they have been inspired by different cultures, and they have been influenced by different artists and teachers. Even though they are far from their home in Taiwan, they are developing impressive skills and sharing their “Scopes” through their best designs this week.
As the curatorial team explained, “scope” is an instrument for observation. The function of scope existed, therefore the designers made humanity evolved. There are also scopes for architects. The scope in architects’ mind are there, thus the world is ever improving. Hence, the team redefines “scope” as an imagination evoking medium. This show exhibits 29 projects designed by 31 young architectural professions from Taiwan. Through their scopes, people’s new imagination will be stirred.
