The Education Division of TECO-NY has continually administered the language proficiency tests: Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language this year. Currently, for the first of this year’s college level, exam were administered on April 12.2016, at the Hunter College in New York City. The Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) and Children’s Chinese Competency Certification (CCCC) are developed by the Steering Committee for the Test of Proficiency (TOP), and are tools to measure progress and ability in the Chinese language.
Hunter College has been a biggest supporter for the TOCFL and launched the tests with The Education Division of TECO-NY since 2013 and they will continue do it yearly. Education Director Charlin Chang appreciated that the enormous efforts from the professors and the stuffs from Hunter College by showing their euthanasia of Taiwanese arts and culture, advocating Chinese Language, Traditional Chinese characters, and presenting the greatness of Taiwan.
The Chinese Flagship Center at Hunter College is funded by the Language Flagship, a major component of The National Security Education Program in the U.S. Department of Defense.
The Language Flagship leads the nation in designing, supporting, and implementing a new paradigm for advanced language education. Through an innovative partnership among the federal government, education, and business, the Language Flagship prepares undergraduate and graduate students in all fields to take their place among the next generation of global professionals, commanding a superior level of fluency in one of many languages critical to U.S. competitiveness and security.
