In the 2016 PONY World Series 14U™ League held on August 10, 2016 at Lew Hays Pony Field at Washington Park, PA in US, the team Chinese Taipei registered as team represented Taiwan claimed the championship. The team of Taiwan- Chinese Taipei defeated Maui, Hawaii, 12-2 to win the 2016 PONY League World Series in the final match. The championship is the eighth title for Taiwan’s Chinese Taipei team since 1993. President Tsai Ing-wen offered her warmest congratulations to the team at the very moment. The Education Director Charlin Chang, came from Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York (TECO) presented congratulation certificates from President Tsai Ing-wen, Vice President Chen Chien-jen, Executive Yuan Premier Lin Chuan and Education Minister Pan Wen-chung on the site to celebrate their victory in the 2016 PONY World Series championship.
The PONY 14U™ League is specifically designed for the player in those very formative early-teen years. The defending champions advanced to the final by defeating Los Mochis, Mexico 5-0 on August 6 and Chesterfield, Virginia 9-2 on August 9. During the championship game against the Maui team, Taiwan's youth baseball team won convincingly with a 12-2 victory over their opponents and claims Taiwan’s 8th Pony League world title.
