Two Weeks in TaiwanThis program is an overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students and young professionals who have studied one year (or the equivalent) of Chinese and want to learn more. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering Mandarin language and building relationships between the people of the United States and Taiwan, the program provides opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at an early level of language learning. The program is hosted by the Chinese Language Center at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) in Tainan, Taiwan.
The program seeks students with one year of university-level Chinese or the equivalent. We are looking for participants with diverse interests, and from a wide range of fields of study and career paths, with the purpose of representing the full diversity of the United States. Participants are selected based on their commitment to language learning and plans to apply their language skills to their future academic or professional pursuits. Please note that this is an intensive group-based language program.
Students are accompanied and advised in Taiwan by a full-time resident director employed by American Councils who is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program and ensuring participant safety and satisfaction. Additionally, participants receive overseas medical and accident insurance for the duration of the program. Students will live in an NCKU dormitory during their stay in Tainan.
