New Asia Chamber Music Society and special guest Cho-Liang Lin Present Annual Concert “Seasons of Legacy” on Saturday, April 15 at
Merkin Hall of Kaufman Music Center
(New York, NY)— On April 15, 2017, New Asia Chamber Music Society (NACMS) will present its third annual concert “Seasons of Legacy” at Merkin Concert Hall of Kaufman Music Center at 8 PM. After two successful concerts at Carnegie Hall, NACMS is excited to perform at Lincoln Center in one of the best venues for chamber music in New York City. Led by two-time Grammy nominated violinist Cho-Liang Lin and the young professional musicians of New Asia, the concert will bring the vitality of spring to its audience.
In addition to Vivaldi’s Four Seasons and Chausson’s Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet, the concert will feature the world premiere of a newly commissioned work titled ’Spring’ by Taiwanese composer Hung-Ping Chang. Chang fuses the traditionally eastern sound of the erhu with the widely known ‘Spring’ of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons to create a refreshing musical masterpiece. The erhu will be performed by Andy Lin, Artistic Director of New Asia Chamber Music Society.
“The program title, ‘Seasons of Legacy’ is a reflection of the musicians and the works they will perform...” says Andy Lin. “In one sense, ‘Seasons of Legacy’ means the passing of the torch from an existing tradition to a new one, as we will see in Hung-Ping Chang’s recreation of the Vivaldi Four Seasons. In another sense, it signifies the passing of the torch from one generation to another, with living legend Cho-Liang Lin leading the way for the next group of young concert artists. It will be an important moment for two generations of Taiwanese-American musicians to share the stage.”
NACMS artists featured in this concert include Kevin Lin, winner of the Irving M. Klein Competition and Concertmaster of London Philharmonic Orchestra; William Wei, Queen Elisabeth Competition finalist; Andy Lin, NACMS Artistic Director; Nan-Cheng Chen, NACMS Executive Director; Richard Lin, First Prizewinner of the 2013 Sendai International Music Competition in Japan and veteran member of NACMS, Cindy Wu.
Tickets for “Seasons of Legacy” will be available in March at the Kaufman Music Center’s website: www.kaufmanmusiccenter.org. For more information, please visit: www.newasiacms.org.

Hailed by New York Concert Reviews as “an impressively organized and professional group… comprised of many young and gifted players”, the New Asia Chamber Music Society (NACMS) is propelled by a shared passion for classical chamber music and profound respect for the works written by the composers of our time. Based in New York City, NACMS is committed to bringing audiences exceptional performances of the finest works of chamber music, drawn from the canon of western music as well as contemporary Asian culture.
