“Spotlight on New York: 2015 Taiwanese Student Film Exhibition”

The “Spotlight on New York: 2015 Taiwanese Student Film Exhibition” was held by Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York (TECO) from Jan15 to Jan21, 2015. The exhibition was a 1 week event and it exhibited 11 young filmmakers’ movies and stages design. And the grand finale of the “Salute To Broadway- Movies Sings” which was the opening show of the film exhibition and was held at 6:30pm at Jan16 at TECO.

 

This is the first time, ever, that TECO has held a Taiwanese student film exhibition on such a variety of subjects that brings together young Taiwanese filmmakers studying and working in New York to showcase their work. The exhibition included 11 young filmmakers from New York University and Columbia University graduate’s film programs. The exhibition included works from directors, screenwriters, producer, cinematographer, film score composers, and production designers. All of these works presented a variety of aspects of film making and provides a platform for young Taiwanese filmmakers to share their ideas and creativity.

 

TECO Education Division Director Charlin Chang mentioned that her department has organized 27 events in 2014 which including Music, Sports, employment, art, computer design, construction and so on. And she will hard work and continue to create a wonderful stage for students from Taiwan. She pointed out because lots of foreigners passionate about Taiwan film culture and there are lots of talented and gifted Taiwanese students in New York, Therefore, in the beginning of 2015, she would like to provide a golden chance for them to share their works to the world and let them shine.

 

The “Spotlight on New York: 2015 Taiwanese Student Film Exhibition” divided into 3 categories: student’s film, special films (2 long films 2 short films, all are nominated or won international award), and youth director seminar (Ming-Lang Chen, Pei-Ju Hsieh, Chia-Ching Lin). Each youth director’s film is very unique, like Ming-Lang Chen’s Tomorrow comes Today , Pei-Ju Hsieh’s Maquette1 :1000, Chia-Ching Lin’s Knighthood and 1987 Studio’s Conspiracy. There director seminar was organized on Jan17 (Sat) 3:15 at TECO office too.
