CAAPS was founded in 1975 and is now one of the largest Chinese-American academic organizations. Its members come from all walks of life and career, and from varied fields of academia and professions. CAAPS holds a popular annual convention each fall and has featured keynote speakers in the likes of current President Ma Ying-jeou, Nobel laureates David Ho and Daniel Tsui, forensic expert Henry C. Lee, former Premier Lien Chan, Mrs. Anna Chennault, Secretary Elaine Chao, and New York City Councilman Peter Koo. The day-long CAAPS conventions are filled with vivid presentations, academic paper discussions, and inspirational messages.
Now in its 39th year, CAAPS looks forward to planning yet another exciting convention. The Education Division in New York is no stranger to CAAPS or the convention. It is an annual sponsor and also organizes student volunteers to assist at the convention center. Director Chang reaffirmed the Education Division’s support for CAAPS and expressed her personal admiration for the group’s support for overseas academics and professionals.
