TECRO is offering this award to American undergraduate and graduate students, who are enrolled as full-time students at a U.S. college or university, and who are interested in improving their Mandarin language proficiency through study abroad at a university in Taiwan. Ideal applicants are American citizens who neither hold a Taiwan passport nor claim Taiwanese or Chinese heritage and who meet the following category of eligibility:
Funds: The program provides recipients with a fixed monthly stipend (NT$25,000, about US$862, rate: 29) to help defray living expenses and tuition in Taiwan. Successful applicants are responsible for all other costs.
Duration: Three (3), six (6), nine (9), or twelve (12) months from September 2013 to August 2014.
Number of awards: A total of 120 months of study in Taiwan.
