The Foundation for Scholarly Exchange (Fulbright Taiwan) is one of approximately 50 bi-national/bilateral organizations in the world established specifically to administer the Fulbright educational exchange program outside the U.S.

Fulbright Taiwan offers a number of awards for U.S. citizens who wish to come to Taiwan for a period of study, teaching, or research:

  • U. S. Scholar Program,
  • U. S. Student Program,
  • Cross-Strait Studies Award,
  • Fulbright Study/Research Grants,
  • English Teaching Assistantship (ETA) program

As a traveler to Taiwan with the purpose of studying language, you are required to obtain a proper visa.

  • Recipients with scholarship period equal to or less than 6 months apply for a multiple-entry Visitor Visa

Purpose of Stay:
 To study Chinese

Required Documents:
1.      Scholarship Certificate issued by Education Division of TECO in New York.
2.      A certificate of admission issued by the Chinese language center.
3.      A completed bar-coded Visa Application printout (https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw).
4.      A U.S. passport valid for no less than six months.
5.      Two 2x2-inch color photos with a plain color (white color recommended) background taken within the last six months.
6.      Visa processing fee of $160.00

Entries are now being accepted for the 44th World Schoolchildren’s Art Exhibition, to be held in Taipei from the 28th August to the 17th September, 2013.

This annual exhibition, co-organised by the Association for Education through Art and the Association of Formative Art Education for the Republic of China, aims to promote understanding and friendship among children all over the world through the exchange of artwork.

Children aged six to fifteen are invited to enter by submitting one piece of art (oil paintings, water colours, prints, pencil or crayon drawings, collages, graphic designs, etc.) by the 25th April, 2013.

Certificates or medals will be awarded to artists selected by a committee of judges. The winning works of art will then be displayed at the Nan-Hai Gallery of National Arts Education Center in Taipei.

The Center for Chinese Studies (CCS) announces a Research Grant for Foreign Scholars in Chinese Studies. This program is aimed at foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors (including post-doctoral researchers), and doctoral candidates in departments related to Chinese studies at foreign universities, as well as researchers at related foreign academic institutes.

The Grant may be for research from 3 months to 1 year in Taiwan, and CCS will provide assistance with research expenses, research materials, liaison with universities and research institutions, and use of CCS facilities, etc.

Interested scholars are invited to apply (download application below) with the CCS by May 31st.

TECRO is offering this award to American undergraduate and graduate students, who are enrolled as full-time students at a U.S. college or university, and who are interested in improving their Mandarin language proficiency through study abroad at a university in Taiwan.  Ideal applicants are American citizens who neither hold a Taiwan passport nor claim Taiwanese or Chinese heritage and who meet the following category of eligibility:
