Hamilton College, an independent Liberal Arts College, was founded in 1793 with about 2,000 students,located in the village of Clinton Of Clinton's College Hill, ranked 12th in the National Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2017. Among them, the Chinese language course of the East Asian Language Department is famous and attracts many students. Students include Western students and Asian students with a slightly Chinese dialect background. They have a strong motivation to learn and have cultivated many outstanding Chinese students as second foreign language.
The Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) and Children’s Chinese Competency Certification (CCCC) are developed by the Steering Committee for the Test of Proficiency (TOP), and are tools to measure progress and ability in the Chinese language. On May5, Hamilton College and The Education Division of TECO-NY organized its first the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language test (TOCFL) in its campus. There were sixteen senior Chinese students joining the test. The test provides students with comprehensive testing in terms of listening, reading and writing. Students are positive about this test and can not wait to know the results. Hamilton University Department of East Asian Language and Literature Chinese group will be very supportive for providing this test of Chinese language proficiency test in the future.
Deputy Director Jennifer Wang from the Education Division also in the briefing to promote the Huayu Enrichment Scholarship provided by the Taiwan Ministry of Education, to encourage students to apply for the school, to the promotion of Chinese language education to The United States mainstream universities, but also establish the strong cooperation between the two sides for the future.
